Twitter?s not just for Congressmen anymore

Much like Rep. Anthony Weiner, I find Twitter a lot harder to manage than Facebook. I’m very selective about who I follow, because I’ve found that some folks can really clog up the ol’ newsfeed with useless spammy crap and/or general impropriety. But, I still want to be able to catch the occasional comment from [...]

The 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Season Celebration

This year's AMA Motocross Banquet & Season Celebration was held in a magnificent banquet room at the Pala Resort & Casino. The room was decorated beautifully, lined with motocross décor, as well as a stage decorated with the championship bikes and awards. The line-up of food, appetizers, desserts, and beverages was very elegant and delicious.

After dinner, the awards ceremony began. Jason Weigandt, along with Tim Cotter hosted the show. And of course Jason started it just like he does many of his shows - after slamming down an energy drink.

Jason went on to talk about each round of this summer's AMA Motocross Nationals, with a list of funny jokes pertaining to all the good and bad situations at each of the races. After that, the awards and trophies were handed out.

The night was filled with special memories, good times, and laughs. One poignant moment was when Kevin Windham accepted the award for 'Sportsperson of the Year'. Kevin always has a great way of expressing himself, but made a great comment towards his friend & the team manager, Mike LaRocco. He commented on Mike's motivation, that pushed Kevin to work hard and do his best ... it was touching, but at the same time very funny.

Round 7 of the 2011 AMA Supercross Series was held at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego - home of the NFL's San Diego Chargers football team.

The big winner that night in San Diego? Well .... you'll just have to read on and look at the photos!

Chad Reed wins San Diego Supercross. Eli Tomac wins his first ever 250 Lites Supercross Main Event. The points in all series are closer than ever with Ryan Villopoto leading James Stewart by three points in premiere Supercross, as the series heats up going to Atlanta next weekend!

Qualcomm Stadium

It was expected to rain all day and night. But during the day, it only rained a bit off and on. The track was covered to protect it from the rain and be maintained for the night time program. It did start to rain more as the night time program was getting under way. However, the Feld Motor Sports / Dirt Wurx crew know how to do their jobs. The track is in great condition as the opening ceremonies get under way before the first heat race of the night.

The first 250 West Heat takes off!

The track is a bit slick, and it is raining, but all-in-all everything is in good shape. The early leader is Nicholas Paluzzi on the 72 Yamaha. He's followed very closely by Jim Decotis (66). Tyla Rattray is third, followed Broc Tickle in fourth and Ryan Morais in fifth.

In the 6 lap qualifier, Paluzzi is leading on the last lap, but Decotis makes a pass on a tight left hand corner. They both bobble and it makes room for Broc Tickle to pass! At the finish it's Tickle with the win! Decotis is second, Paluzzi third, Rattray fourth, and Morais fifth.

Freedom Rock ride 2011

Our warm-weather days are numbered here in central Iowa, but October has been a really beautiful month for end-of-season riding. We noted today at brunch that we hadn’t yet visited the Freedom Rock this year, so we decided to head over to Greenfield to take a look at the 2011 mural painted by Ray “Bubba” [...]
