AMA National Motocross Preview - Delmont PA - Round 11

It's called Steel City. It's in Delmont, Pennsylvania. And it's going to host the second to last round of the 2011 AMA National Motocross Championship Series - round 11.

Two names are standing out, as they are going to battle for the premiere Motocross class championship, most likely until the final moto next weekend at Pala Raceway MX in California. Who knows how fierce the competition will be between those two names - Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey? They are separated by only eight points, with four 'motos' left to go.

Right after the race in Pala, they will head to France to compete as teammates, along with Blake Baggett and Team Manager Roger De Coster, as Team USA at the Motocross of Nations in St. Jean d'Angely, France, September 17 and 18. (Watch that entire weekend's event online here.)

Ryan Villopoto is currently leading the AMA National Motocross series in the " MX " class. Ryan Villopoto has won two regional Supercross titles, three AMA National Motocross Championships in the 250 MX Lites class, and recently won the 2011 AMA Supercross Series Championship.

Ryan Dungey is the defending (2010) AMA Motocross Champion. Ryan won the 2010 AMA Supercross Series Championship. Ryan won the 2009 AMA West Region Supercross title, and was the 2009 AMA National Motocross Champion in the 250 MX Lites class.

This should be an epic battle.

Saturday - Round 11 in Pennsylvania. Next Saturday, finale Round 12 in California. The following weekend, teammates in France for the prestigious MX of Nations.

Let's review last weekend's race in Southwick, Massachusetts to get you all caught up for Delmont. And we have three articles for your review. Ryan Dungey?s Blog: 2011 Dallas Supercross

After another wild weekend in Toronto, the 2011 AMA Supercross Championship changed dramatically as some of the top contenders were hit with some misfortune. I was able to get the start that I needed and ultimately won my first race of the season, which felt amazing. Based on what happened behind me, I also ended [...]

WMX Rider Insight: Sayaka Kaneshiro

At the 13th annual 'A Day in the Dirt' I got a chance to talk with Sayaka "Teriyaki Sauce" Kaneshiro, WMX Pro #15

How was your racing today?

It was good, I thought we had a practice first, I went out and it was actually a race. I was just racing and riding around, I felt like ... WOW!

What did you think of the event overall?

It was to difficult racing for me, because I didn't ride my pace. I rode about 6th place, less than I wanted to. I got the same number as last year, I just tried to do my best.

Twitter?s not just for Congressmen anymore

Much like Rep. Anthony Weiner, I find Twitter a lot harder to manage than Facebook. I’m very selective about who I follow, because I’ve found that some folks can really clog up the ol’ newsfeed with useless spammy crap and/or general impropriety. But, I still want to be able to catch the occasional comment from [...]

Here and there

Once again, the month of July has been brutal for us, weather-wise? temperatures in the mid- to upper-90?s, with the heat index pushing us up into the 100?s and even 110?s for about the past three weeks. It?s deceiving to sit inside in the air conditioning (thank God for air conditioning, and for the funds [...]
