2011 AMA Motocross Qualifying Times: Spring Creek

Despite a muddy track, American Honda's Trey Canard makes a statement by leading the motocross class in Spring Creek with a top qualifying lap time of 2:10.221 seconds. Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey had the second best lap time (2:10.696), while Two-Two Motosports' Chad Reed had the third best lap time (2:11.170). Trey hasn't raced since he got injured during the supercross season, while getting ready for the outdoor motocross series.

In the 250 Class it was Monster Pro Curcuit Kawasaki's Tyla Rattray with the best qualifying lap time of 2:11.310 seconds. Despite a horrible crash in practice at RedBud which kept him out of that race, Eli Tomac came out today with the second best lap qualifying (2:12.019), while Dean Wilson finished practice with the third best lap time (2:12.429).

The top 40 men's Qualifiers in each of the classes transfer to today's motos.

In the WMX its no surprise as the top 3 women take the top three qualifying spots. American Honda and series points leader Ashley Fiolek, leads the women with a best lap time of 2.27.141 seconds, while Jessica Patterson finished practice with the second fastest lap time (2:27.176) and Tarah Gieger with the third fastest time (2:31.813).

RJ Says: 1985 LA Coliseum Supercross video - part 1

Where supercross started - the fabled Los Angeles Coliseum in 1972. This video is from 1985 at the L. A. Coliseum Supercross.

This video is part 1 of 2. I wanted to get it up for you as quickly as possible. In this video, for better or worse, you'll see a lot of me (I'm number 5 on a Yamaha). But in the second video that's coming, you'll see a lot more of my friends in the race like David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Jeff Ward, Goat Breker, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O'Mara, and others.

I think in 1985, we ran two 'main events' at each supercross. Part of what you see here (if my memory is correct) is me winning the first 'main event'.

And stay tuned for the second video! Both videos have the fabled Peristyle uphill / downhill. And especially in the second video coming late next week, with guys like Jeff Ward, David Bailey, Bob Hannah, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Johnny O'Mara and myself - you'll see riders with about 33 AMA Supercross and Motocross titles combined!

Hope you enjoy the videos ...
