Marvin Musquin Update (6-11-2011)

Last Wednesday, Marvin Musquin had his another appointment with his surgeon, Dr Alexander. He removed Marvin's cast to take more X-rays. After reviewing the X-rays, he determined that nothing is wrong, and that everything looks pretty good. Recovery could be faster than he was expecting, which is very good news!

Marvin said, "I was happy when the doctor told me all was OK. He made me a new cast, which he will take off June 16th for good. He checked my thumb more as well, to be sure the tendon is becoming strong enough. As far as my wrist, my fingers are totally free, I can move them and use them. In five days, I will be able to begin strong rehabilitation with a physiotherapist. My thumb is still the most sensitive area, but I'm more confident than before."

Marvin is continuing to workout at the gym everyday with his trainer, Yannig Kervella.

Marvin Musquin Update - 06/03/2011

After his crash last week at Freestone MX in Wortham, Texas, Marvin Musquin had surgery on his hand and thumb Sunday, May 29th, in Murietta, California.

Three metacarpals were broken Marvin's hand, along with the thumb, so the surgeon, Dr Alexander, had to perform surgery - there was no other option.

"I had a surgery on my hand, three metacarpals were broken. The surgeon put screws on each to close the fractures. He hesitated to put in a plate, and determined that that wasn't necessary. For my thumb, it was a little bit different, I had an open fracture, that wasn't beautiful to see. Fortunetely, the fracture was located at the joint under the nail and not at the biggest joint - that would have been worse. In my thumb, just a little plate was enough, no pins. My tendon was damaged, and that was the most uncomfortable. I have seen the surgeon now after the surgery - he was satisfied with the results, so I am too."
